I have a confession to make. When we got pregnant for the first time, I desperately wanted it to be a girl. Images of little pink dresses with matching tights filled my head, as did daydreams about playing dress-up and beauty shop. I just couldn't fathom what I would do with a boy. But low and behold, a boy is what we got and now I can't even imagine why I wanted a girl so bad in the first place. God knew that I didn't need a little girl...I needed Benjamin.
When we got pregnant the second time, everyone assumed that I wanted a girl again, since we already had a boy. However, they were wrong. Now that I knew just how amazing boys could be, I wanted another one! I desired so much to give Benjamin a brother to grow up with, just like his dad did, and my wish came true. Now we have two little boys, only 2 1/2 years apart, and I pray all the time that the two of them will grow up to be best friends some day. Though I know they will bicker and fight (all siblings do), I hope to foster in them the importance of family and I will strive to teach them to rely on each other and always look our for one another, because that is what brothers do.
